We study the interactions between the terrestrial biosphere, the atmosphere and anthropogenic drivers.  Our research methodology consists of field observations (eddy covariance,  IoT sensors, optical isotope instruments,  and high-precision greenhouse gas analyzers), mathematical models (land surface models, large-eddy simulation, WRF, and earth system models), and environmental remote sensing (satellites and drones). Ongoing research covers a range of scales, including micro (e.g., urban greenspaces), local (e.g., urban heat, ecosystem carbon and energy fluxes), regional (e.g., land-atmosphere feedback) and global (e.g., land wet-bulb temperature, historical deforestation).

The lab is led by Xuhui Lee, Sara Shallenberger Brown Professor of Climate Science, School of the Environment. We are located on the third floor, Room 300, Environmental Science Center, 21 Sachem Street.
